Neuro Prolotherapy for Neck Pain London
Chronic neck pain is one of the conditions where Neuro Prolotherapy produces some of its most consistent and clinically significant results.
At Proback Clinic in Victoria, Central London we have particular expertise in the upper cervical spine – an area frequently overlooked in conventional neck pain management. Neuro Prolotherapy allows us to target the hypersensitised superficial nerve pathways in the cervical spine, occiput and upper shoulders with precision, calming the neurogenic inflammation that is maintaining chronic neck pain and associated symptoms including headaches, migraines and referred arm pain.
What Is Neuro Prolotherapy?
Neuro Prolotherapy – also known as Perineural Injection Therapy or PIT – is a treatment developed by New Zealand physician Dr John Lyftogt in which a very low concentration of natural dextrose solution is injected subcutaneously along the pathways of hypersensitised superficial nerves.
Rather than blocking or destroying the nerve signal, Neuro Prolotherapy works by calming the chronic neurogenic inflammation that is maintaining the pain – restoring normal nerve function rather than suppressing it temporarily.
It is completely natural, contains no steroids or synthetic drugs and has an excellent safety profile.
For a full overview of the treatment please visit our main Neuro Prolotherapy London page.
What Types of Neck Pain Does It Help?
- Chronic neck pain that has not responded to physiotherapy or manual therapy
- Cervicogenic headaches and migraines – where neck nerve sensitisation is driving or contributing to headache patterns
- Occipital neuralgia – hypersensitisation of the greater and lesser occipital nerves
- Whiplash associated disorders – including longstanding whiplash where nerve sensitisation is maintaining symptoms
- Upper cervical instability with associated neurological symptoms
- Neck pain following cervical spine surgery
- Referred arm pain and tingling with a cervical nerve sensitisation component
- Neck pain associated with fibromyalgia or widespread pain sensitisation
We are upper cervical specialists at Proback – patients with complex cervicogenic presentations including headaches, dizziness and visual disturbance alongside chronic neck pain are welcome to discuss their situation with us.
How Is the Treatment Performed?
Neuro Prolotherapy for neck pain involves a series of very small, superficial injections placed just beneath the skin along the affected nerve pathways in the cervical spine, occiput, upper trapezius and associated areas.
The greater and lesser occipital nerves, the cervical medial branch nerves and the trigeminal nerve branches can all be targeted depending on the specific pain pattern.
Sessions take approximately 20 to 30 minutes and most patients resume normal activities immediately.
How Many Sessions?
Most patients require between four and eight sessions spaced one to two weeks apart.
Cervicogenic headache and migraine patients often notice a meaningful reduction in headache frequency and severity within the first three to four sessions.
